As a family physician with additional training in Preventive Medicine, Dr. Belisle’s specialty is health and wellness. She is experienced in dealing with illness and injuries, but firmly believes that preventing disease and promoting wellness are just as crucial. She enjoys working with individuals who are motivated to be healthy and happy. She likes to help people stay informed about traditional and non-traditional therapies, and takes an integrative approach to medicine.
Dr. Belisle’s approach to medicine took shape as a result of her personal and professional experiences. She was raised in Yarmouth with nine younger siblings, and now has three children (and an ever-patient husband) of her own. In addition to a residency in Family Medicine, and a fellowship in Preventive Medicine, she completed a Master of Public Health and an Internship in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. She is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Vermont and is involved in teaching residents and medical students with the Family Practice Department at the Maine Medical Center. She currently serves as a medical advisor to the MaineHealth Learning Resource Centers and the statewide literacy program Raising Readers and the MaineHealth Employee Works on Wellness (WOW) Program. She writes regular columns for the Parent & Family newspaper and Switch publication.
